It can turn simple **important** into important, reduce runs of whitespace-only blank lines outside code to one, and optionally remove spaces at line ends. The bold option starts off so you can choose whether those markers should remain.
It does not rewrite sentences or remove headings, links, lists, or every kind of Markdown. To protect those structures, it may leave bold markers wrapped around a link or inline code. Check the result before copying.
When should I leave it as is?
Keep the markers if you want Markdown formatting in your destination. Code fences, inline code, and indented code are preserved. A literal **word** looks exactly like Markdown bold, so the tool cannot infer your intent; preview it before you copy.
